< PreviousA personal project, created in Procreate. I wanted to depicting a commonly known disease in a clean style that would be easy to read for a non-health professional. I chose to illustrate an elderly woman, as this group tends to carry the highest risk. ANATOMY OF CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH 10. Scientific Illustration Portfolio https://linktr.ee/renskehosteCreated as a mural for Limbs & Things Ltd. My focus for this piece was how a simple touch is able to change our lives. Received a Bronze award from the Institute of Medical Illustrators. ‘IN GOOD HANDS’ Scientific Illustration Portfolio 11. https://linktr.ee/renskehosteA series of illustrations created in collaboration with Aspect Communications as part of a patient education video around a new birthing device. The illustrations were created in a simplified, clean style, fitting with the rest of the animation. ANIMATION ASSETS ODON ASSIST 12. Scientific Illustration Portfolio https://linktr.ee/renskehoste1. 2. This asset was created as part of a larger project around pathologies of the abdomen, to be viewed in Augmented Reality and 3D interactive. One of the tasks was to create a 3D liver with advanced metastases. To that end, the assets had to be optimised for viewing in 3D, with a very low poly count, and very high resolution textures - I followed the Game-Ready Asset production pipeline. ZBrush (initial) Maya (post and UV) ZBrush First, I created assets in Maya and ZBrush with a low polygon count and roughly correct topology. They were then UV-unwrapped, ensuring minimal seams were visible. Next, I created a high resolution sculpt (~12M polys) in ZBrush, using countless references. I then collected external feedback. Note that the tumour does stays within the lobe of the liver and does not cross the boundary. CASE STUDY: 3D LIVER METASTASIS Brief Low Poly High Poly3. 13.3. Texturing Final I then baked the high poly and low poly meshes in Adobe Substance Painter, and manually textured the liver using colour, roughness, normal and height maps. This was the final textured version - it was then signed off by the client and external medical reviewer. After sign-off, the exported textures and meshes were imported back into Maya to review in context (see next page for Arnold render). Upon final sign-off, I imported and set up all assets in Unity for platform implementation. 4. Substance Painter Maya (Render) Unity 14.Rendered in Arnold (Maya). Awarded Gold and Platinum (as a body of work) by the Institute of Medical Illustrators. MALE CATHETERISATION 3D ANIMATION 16. Scientific Illustration Portfolio https://linktr.ee/renskehoste3D render of a full-term foetus in utero. Created using ZBrush, Maya and Substance Painter. Awarded Gold by the Institute of Medical Illustrators. ABDOMEN 3D RENDERS 18. Scientific Illustration Portfolio https://linktr.ee/renskehoste3D render of a tumour of the Sigmoid Colon. Meshes were created, textured and animated as part of the Limbs&Things ART project. The ART project is an award-winning app that serves to provide anatomical and physiological models and animations as part of acquiring medical skills.
